Stuff You Can Say Everyday by D. Mullis

My son wrote a book of his personal, one liner quotes. Never underestimate the power of simple statements! A very interesting read!

"But you're blind! How can you write!" someone said to me. Read my book and see.

Background Information

I graduated from the Virginia School For The blind, and did further study at Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, VA. I later studied creative writing at the Hadley School, Winnetka, Illinois. I won my first writing contest while still in grade school, and never looked back, selling my first piece in 1967. My work has appeared in numerous inspirational magazines, and in McFadden's Woman's Group. I have written for Dialogue Magazine for the visually impaired for forty years, and currently write two bi-monthly columns for "Our Special" published by National Braille Press. My book FRIENDSHIPS IN THE DARK was published in the US by Brett Books; Saint Martins Press; and Thorndike Press; and in The UK, JK Thorpe, and in China, Sea Dove Press. My literary prizes are: Dialogue Best Story of The year, Australian Literary award, short story. Non literary awards: the D.D. McFarland award for community service; Employee of the year, Virginia Department For the Blind and Vision Impaired; Lifelong Learning award, Hadley School For The blind; Hall of Fame Virginia Alumni Association For The blind. I have worked as teacher, peer counselor, Youth Transition coordinator, and currently serving as organist at Faith Lutheran Church in historic downtown Staunton I feel that in some ways my blindness has been an asset to me in my journey as a writer. Through necessity the blind must hone our powers of observation, invaluable for a writer. My blind characters because they are different often intrigue the reader. I'm looking forward to sharing my first mystery and first ebook with my readers.
