He served as an Army officer in the Infantry for 22 years until his retirement in 1990. He is a Vietnam veteran and a disabled veteran. After the service, he was a financial adviser for two years and then became a facility maintenance manager from 1993 until his retirement in 2011. He started writing in earnest when he retired.
