First Edition Translation of Teselas by Carmen Crespo X111 César Simón Poetry Prixe 2016 Translated from Spanish by Robin Ouzman Hislop and Amparo Arrospíde
Gene McCormick was kidnapped, maybe, at age five by a roving band of evil circus clowns who force-fed him cotton candy until the age of twelve, when he escaped from circus sideshow activities by being shot from a cannon, landing on Himalayan Mountain #28, where he learned the meaning of life ("It is FULFILLMENT. Go in peace.").
Background
Information
Reading Charles Bukowski and Amy Hempel convinced me to try narrative poetry, which I have been doing for a number of years with varying degrees of success. Using the framework of narrative poetry to capture humanity as we daily interact with it--social portraiture of everyday moments--is a compulsion.
Accomplishments
As a matter of policy I don't enter contests, but have won a handful of promiscuous awards. The Nobel and Pulitzer continue to elude me.
