The couple was forced to flee Mexico and request asylum for him in the U.S. After his deportation, Ms. Perez followed him to El Salvador to help facilitate his move to a safer location. She was later rescued by the Salvadoran police and sent home by the U.S. Embassy. She has written a memoir about the entire three-year event, Save Me Salvador.
Jennifer Perez and her current husband live in Las Vegas. She has been writing her latest novel, "All That's Holy," and is in the final editing stages.
