Maxine Browne was married to a controlling sociopath for 10 years. What began as a whirlwind romance ended with her total destruction. She was stripped of friends, family and even her children. John controlled the mail, transportation and all social interaction with others. She was under his complete control. Her family became splintered and divided. In the book, she interviewed two of her daughters who told their own stories of being abused by their stepfather. They left home in order to escape. As the years of psychological and verbal abuse took their toll, she became severely depressed. In order to end her suffering, she planned her suicide, but left instead. Leaving was not the end of the story; it was the beginning of a process of healing. She takes you with her on this journey. Maxine cannot press the “Reset” button. She can’t give back to her children their childhood. However, they offer their story to help other families recognize the signs of an abusive relationship. 

Maxine Browne has written articles for numerous online blog sites. She has been interviewed on Coached by God and The Attitude Shift on BlogTalkRadio. She has given workshops on the dynamics of domestic violence as well as telling her own story for numerous organizations.
