Why I Write

About 41 years ago, I started writing poetry for my wife Lisa.

Then I did it for special occasions: Valentine’s Day,

Birthdays and such. Then about five years later, I started working for the school district here in Concord, Ca. in

1987, I started as a P.M Custodian working nights at

Olympic high. I did this for about seven years, This was was a fantastic opertunity. this is when I started work a size. this was the time I used my working skills to use a broom that know one has ever seen. After I mastered the broom in cutting down my time in cleaning I entered talent shows at two different schools years later. Holbrook Elementary and Gregory Gardens Elementry added spectial effects as light show, names of stunts used and fog machine, strobe lights and then after got invited to AGT years later. for three days to audition on there stage. didn't make it it in as they gave me a stage with a rug - I lost. I got a promotion to become a Head Custodian for an  Elementary School. Gregory Gardens. I started writing, and doing model rocketry at gregory Gardens and Holbrook Elementary for Rocket  Demos.  Cost getting to high had to quit. needed 2 million dollars in insurance and lots of paper work with state fire marshal in C.C.C. And a Pyro Tecnic Licence that was very costly as well. amost got a sponsor ship at a buisness in P.H.

After 5 years but they went bankrupted

 I wrote poetry for teachers, for retirees, students and writing

poems for different places for businesses. I wrote a poem

to the makers of Snapple tea and received 32, 24 oz.

drinks. Then I wrote a poem for a place called the Jungle

where kids can be set free to play in a two story building

with big tubes. They crawl and slide thru these tubes and

get tired out. They gave me 24 free passes that I gave to

the schools P.T.A. The principal of the school told me I

should write a book from all my poems and put in our

school library. So I did.  Thanks to Mr. Bob Corritone the priciple at this school Title:

Modern Poetry. I made the cover and everything myself, it

went thru the district for processing and passed.

I would read in the class rooms and children would laugh

and giggle over my riddles and I didn’t even have

illustrations yet. This is when I wanted to be a writer of

children books. Then I wrote Rockets over California,

about Model Rocketry. And then I caught a hummingbird in

a class room and wrote a story on that. Hummer the hummingbird

A few years later, I went to another school. I stopped

writing, do to politics at a school. After two years I seen a

parent at a store and she asked if I wrote any more books.

I told her no, I stopped all together. Told her about my

situation and she said, I should get my own web site to

post them on. I then hired a college Student to make one

up for me. Thank's to Thomas Grundig for doing my web

sites, now years later I'm doing my own. For the two years

of not writing, I got a few hobbies with my children. I got

into R/C airplanes, rocketry and did a lot of fishing. By the

third year I got around this subject kind of, by volunteering

to read at day cares after hours and by giving my books to

teachers. From here I wrote a few more other books. One

about a family of robins: The Nest That Could Fly. And the

other: the What Am I? Bugs A part two to the first what am

I? Book. My newest Bill's P.R.I.D.E,to keep our youth from smoking.

I met a parent at my school one of the P.T.A people who

was doing posters for my school carnival. Mrs. Louella

Giron, and asked her if she could do illustrations of myfirst What Am I? Book

book? She agreed to do. It took her many months to

complete as she has six children and was always very busy.
