Wife, mother, ordained & licensed minister in the International Church of God, youth pastor and Children's Ministries director and author. Realizing that children grieve differently, Sargent began searching for resources written to and for young children. Finding the search difficult, she was led to develop "healing" books that encourage children to write poems and letters or draw pictures onto each page. Her first book, "When My Daddy Died," was published in 2007. Her second book, "When My Mommy Died," was published in 2012. Mothers and Fathers are dying in Afghanistan, Iraq and on the streets of America's cities everyday, she said. What about their children? She believes that unresolved grief is the root of every unpleasant emotion! "Grief is the one emotion everybody experiences and nobody wants to talk about! It's time we helped children grieve in a healthy way. It's time we talk!" 

Rev Sargent retired from the United States Air Force in 2003. While on active duty she earned the following recognition: Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters; Air Force Achievement Medal; Air Force Marksmanship Ribbon; Basic Military Training School Honor Graduate Ribbon; John L. Levitow Honor Graduate and Distinguished Graduate, NCO Preparatory Course, Clark Air Base, Republic of the Philippines; 15th Air Force Public Affairs Junior NCO of the Year; Air Force Association Citation of Honor recipient; Pacific Air Forces 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year; and 1961st Information Systems Group Airman of the Year.
