James D. Maxon is a writer, composer and designer. He works as a Senior Designer at an advertising company and has extensive experience with computer technology. In addition to writing, as a top graduate of Graphics Design / Multimedia, James has expanded his art form and creativity in the digital market. A participant of the writer groups Christian Fic2 and Cfanwriter, James is also a member of AuthorsDen, wordpress.com, ChristianWriters.com and writing.com. As a boy growing up in a fatherless and dysfunctional home, James has overcome the odds by striving to better himself through the challenges in life. Growing to appreciate the difficulties in finding his own identity, James targets children and teens with messages of faith, hope and insight. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of three his parents were divorced and he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota with his Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother. Depression ran rampant in the home with family members diagnosed with medical conditions such as “mental illness” and “bleeding ulcers”, along with their attempts of suicide. Being the only male in a household of women, James’s few role models consisted mostly of the alcoholics, drug addicts and jailbirds that his mother had dated. His search for understanding the male identity has been a struggle, and the answers are ones he hopes to share throughout his writings. It has been his mission to understand the truths in life, and his desire to help those who are struggling with similar questions. James recognizes the need to sometimes escape into a fantasy world in order to find solace, and so he writes stories that instill truths, hope, encouragement and inspiration into the hearts and minds of his readers to help equip them with ideals that will aid them in everyday life. His style is one which reaches all ages, providing stories that children can understand, yet still giving enough depth and symbolism for adults to relate to. He has writings in the genres of poetry, stories, expository, narrative and persuasive. His latest published work is a book called, “The Cat That Made Nothing Something Again”, which is a story of a nameless cat who lives in a town of dry, unhappy people devoid of moisture, joy and creativity. The story tells of how this feline hero journeys to discover a solution to his problem, and in doing so he overcomes obstacles with wit and determination, finds new friends in unexpected places and learns the simple joy -- and transcendent power -- of helping others. Current work in progress is "A Wizard's Tale", which is a story about a fifteen-year-old boy who is involuntarily forced to walk in his father's footsteps -- after his death -- and finds himself fighting against a powerful and opposing force. James now lives with his wife, Cindy, in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota and is soon to be a father.
