Deborah Lynne Carlton is a native Maine with a background in fine art. During the recession of the early 90’s, Deborah departed a stressful legal secretary job to drive west, packing the car with painting supplies and clothing for both winter and summer weather. She lived throughout the Rockies for six years, sometimes working as a wilderness cook in Wyoming, Idaho and Colorado, often camping and painting between jobs or working in Sedona during the winter.     "During that time poetry and essays flew off the pen as fast as the paint flew off the brush and I realize now that much of it was channeled, oft times while driving down the road, line by line of a poem would appear and I struggled to write and keep the car straight with the road at the same time. The landscapes were so open and inspiring -- wide open plains, elusive rivers, red rock canyons and indigo mountains ... these visions replaced the pastoral scenes of Maine with many wise teachers and opportunities to grow along the way. Initially, the writings served as small stories beneath the artwork during gallery exhibitions. But people wanted more of the writing, it put them there, helped them to feel into the images and it eventually developed into the books."   Returning to Maine in 2001, Deborah established a holistic healing practice specializing in essential oil therapies for spinal, immune and emotional health.  “Creativity can be channeled anywhere, whether you’re painting, baking bread, raising a family or working with someone in a healing way.” It’s all energy and it is either flowing or blocked. The artist, the writer and the healer all tap into the same sort of vision to promote movement.
