Ever since the first day my elementary school teacher read my essay to the class I knew I wanted to be a writer. However, I did not begin to pursue my dream until I returned to college as an adult. There, my English professor encouraged me to enter a writing contest, which I did. I didn't win, but my story A Pair of Blue Skates was published in P'an Ku, the magazine of Broward Community College.
