Grew up in suburban St. Louis, riding bikes and climbing trees. Earned an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Religion, spent a semester in seminary and changed my mind. Went back to college, earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Science Education. Converted to Islam. Married a cute guy from Thailand. Gave birth to six sons, one at a time.
