As a poet, I am initiating an American tradition which finds most of its influence in Europe. From the twentieth century, Yeats and Eliot, from the nineteenth century the major Romantics (Byron, Keats, Shelley, Wordsworth), and before them Milton, Shakespeare, and Donne. Where my encounters with philosophy are concerned, the discourses of the Deconstructionists lead back to Heidegger, and behind him German Idealists Kant and Schopenhauer.
