Blanche F. Lord has lived many different lives. A native of Philadelphia, most of her adult life was spent in Westchester County, New York, where she was known as Blanche Feldstein. At twenty, she married a medical student who, after years of study, became a psychoanalyst. Early in their marriage, they lived in Paris, France for two years, where he was a Fulbright Fellow and she studied voice. At forty, her marriage broke up, leaving her to bring up two children as a single mother.
