When I was in my teens, I read every sci-fi, fantasy and mystery book my small town library had, but I wanted more. An only child, I spent a lot of time alone in my room with only my imagination for company, and started writing my own short fiction when I was thirteen. My major early influences were Ellery Queen and Alfred Hitchcock.
