Born and raised in Bath, England, Anyaa immigrated to Canada as a nineteen-year-old-bride and originally settled in Alberta. After a brief, abusive marriage, she went back to England with her young daughter until 1976. At that time she returned to Canada and made Sudbury, Ontario her home where she met her second husband and was blessed with two more daughters.
