My husband and I are life-long residents of Catahoula Parish, Louisiana. Since retiring from teaching in public schools, I've worked part-time with a grant-funded early intervention program as service coordinator for families of children with special needs and with another program for high school dropouts. Most of my 'free' time during this period was spent mucking stalls and hauling horses to horse events with my daughter, forcing me into more knowledge than I desired at the time but has provided treasured memories and background for my stories.
