The pain of a long distance romance
Phantoms dance in the shadows of my heart Shades rip from the windows of my soul Cicadas shriek a desperate song on the far shores of my mind once alight, now murky. The passions shared between us rest in memory Cries of love now denied wait for the future After-tremors shred my heart, cold and empty Then my tears fall in silence.

What an image-filled notation of heartbreak!
"Shades rip from the windows of my soul..."
Yes, Donna, I can "feel" that. I know the anguish
of such a love, as do most poets, I think.
