He was neither young nor handsome
yet, he was exactly what she needed.
His was an elixir of strength
that he offered in a golden chalice.
His was the laughter
that lightened her heart,
his voice the love song
whispered in her ear,
his body the ambrosia
that her hunger craved.
He was her beloved knight,
enriching her earthly sojourn,
her devoted companion,
a foil against loneliness.
At times, he was a babe in her arms
suckling at her breast
suddenly transforming into a lovesick pursuer,
rendering her helpless against his charms,
seducing her with honeyed words,
leading her into realms of wonder.
He called forth the very best in her
and she blossomed, abundantly.

If he's that perfect, why is this one written in past tense? What happened to the perfect love between them? Why did he leave her-or did she eventually find out he wasn't the knight she thought he was and left him???
Good one.

Having been a "toyboy" many times I can relate to this. A well expressed and well written verse Gwen, made me sad that all the women older than I am now are probably on zimmer frames.

Good one.
