The dunes of sand are glowing as this night of August calls
Tides of souls wash in and out to ease the tears that fall
In happiness there are such times when soulful sobs are heard
When all the anguished fates of yore seem trivial and absurd
The lonely gull cries out for love its mate responds in kind
While waves of time wash in and out of memories in the mind
Time is a judge of souls, it seems
Then plays the hand that wins
Often to the other love of a heart that's on the mend
Forget the past and forge ahead to greet another day
The dunes will stay...
The tides will change...
And gulls will fly away
As time seeks out another pair to smooth the edges over
When life will take another turn and hearts will run for cover
There is only one thing that is certain in this life besides the end and that is change, and time brings us to both of them. In the end time is our enemy, but in matters of the heart, those matters that hold so much change in store for us, time can be a blessing in disguise. This write shows what a brilliant view of life you have.

Just a beautiful construct Susan. You write like you are painting a canvas. And your thoughts are the colors and shapes that emerge as words.
Dunes are constantly changing in shape and size. Even though they have a sort of consistency, the tides rework everything they touch, and do so differently every night. And the gulls come and go as they please depending on the weather.
You have eloquently and mysteriously described life here.
