In the diminished power of illusion
Her tears lasso a dream
Facets fade as the shade draws
Upon embroidered gloss she screams
In quiet sobs she remorses
What was then, is now... and gone
She holds the smile he gave her
Then pain strikes to her bones
Regrets of why it happened
Their crossroads of pure pain
When he came out of nowhere
Then for years echoed her name
It just wasn't meant to happen
As farrowed dreams paint fault
They bow to her fast sorrow
As her tears turn into salt
This world can be so beautiful
As dawn begins each day
But love can paint a canvas
Turn sunshine into grays
They take another pathway
Never knowing what is gone
To live a life without true love
Then go their way alone.
"They take another pathway never knowing what is gone to live a life without true love then go their way alone" Lately I'm beginning to understand this. Such true and uninhibited writing. Pierre.

Susan,
Thank you for putting words to the pain I am feeling now. There never seems to be just black or white in love's reality - just a grey haze. How bleak for those who never let another ray of sunshine break through to love again. You captured so much here is spare verse. Beautiful.
Oh Yes! It is pome like this that makes me wish I had tried harder to develop the art of the rhyme. Your words flow like the tears we've all shed for loves' losses. Very well done... and if any of this is recently personal, My deepest sympathies, Sweet Lady.

The thunderstorms of life are most always a surprise, but there is one good thing about them, they ALWAYS go away and bring on the sunshine, if we but accept it. A lot of well-chosen words went into the makeup of this poem, Susan.
Very moving piece that I relate to on a deep level with so much of my own heart. You captured the spirit of having love and then losing it never to find it again. Well done my sweet friend.

~~Susan~~my favorite color is grey..maybe i've just been there so long..such a beautiful poem..such a sad subject~~
I often think that love's jigsaw puzzle should be built from the center outward, instead of starting with interlocking the border frame first. If we want the whole picture, then we need to work for it and not let the outside frame be so easy and rule that it gets built first. Damn, let's find those inner pieces first! Start with the earth at our feet and build skylar upward. The blue will frame a lasting love, Susan...

Powerful and touching as only you can mix grace with divinity ...
The pain in this is prose is palpable Susan! I think we all have experienced this deep gnawing hunger for why it didn't work! Fantastic depth!Missed you, sis;-)

More often than not they all leave some kind of a scar too. Ephemral moments relegated only to memory.
I agree with Sir Peter ... a bittersweet poem indeed!
