Poem Artwork

by Susan Kathryn de Vegter

I am a weathered soul they say, from centuries before
I've been a part of everyone and sobbed through senseless wars
Been mired within your sorrow, stillborn within my fears
I've seen the world change each time and more and more the years
Have added up to sameness with likened old worn souls
They interchange through timeless space mere seconds, still "On Hold'
I wonder of my purpose, where are the answers found?
The answers all you try to give is gracious but earth bound
I know, for instance, that your spirit, perception and religion
Is all the same in relevance, call it intuition
I feel your wishes and destain, I see inside your dreams
Those times when eyes say everything, I'm in your heart it seems
I sense tomorrow and your smile, I taste the salt of tears
I've worn your shoes a thousand times through years and years and years
Spirits live inside us all, their whisper beckons others
Then energies connect each one brother unto brother
Hearts are lifted light as air or weighted down with rocks
Can't take being all couped up then think outside the box
Greet your angel ,connect the energies, listen from inside
Know that hope and faith are housed deep within life's ride
Your spirit is as old as mine but not too obligated
If I can recall my past forms, opt for a choice then take it
I'd dwell in centuries, logic bound with knowledge beyond years
While some of you stunt your growth with doubt and senseless fears

One can see within your poem the depth of more than thoughts, there is that view into the mystical mind, the dimensional paths crossing together so one can understand and or accept the knowledge of something more than life itself...

you define more here than some can see.

nice, Susan...

Very intense and deep looking intensity at another with the comparisons needed to make a judgement. Love shifts in and out but their is also heartache and pain between the lines. Aged? No just wise from experience. Enjoyed this one but I think you should consider enlarging font and/or opening spacing for easier readability for tired old eyes like mine.

Confession and obsession are good for Old Souls. How do I insure that I know which is which'un? It almost pains me to say that I'm with you on every line... in spades. No, let's don't dig any more up at this time. Excellent crafting, here. - Luff, - Bill

A very wise old soul you are indeed, I've never before read anyone
who can explain life as well as you.

I think we've all met individuals who are old beyond their chronological years and others who are old but incredibly immature. There's much to be said for "old souls." They are the calmest, kindest and most sincere people I've ever had the pleasure and honor to meet. This is a beautiful poem - could have only been written by an old soul because you write about it on a first-hand basis.

Well done, fear stops one from living, rather than use any fear as a spring board for growth....

This is exquisitely penned, Susan; old souls have words to share, the voices of experience, I guess. It's up to us to listen. As Jerry said, Gotta love it. And I do. :) Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

When old souls talk, people should listen . . .When old souls partake of the aftertaste of life lived and life savored, the sweetness is on their breaths . . . When old souls give us warning, dire and ugly, apprehension should be listened to . . . When old souls talk about wars and the rumors thereof, blood pours from their eyes . . . When old souls write poetry, you . . . gotta . . . love . . . it . . .
