Threshold

After weeks of doubt and pain,

We found ourselves yet again.

Tear filled eyes and broken heart,

Saw our very souls torn apart.

We tried, we cried, and struggled, too,

But we couldn’t part, that we knew.

Tentative, scared, but with cautious hope,

We gave signs that let us cope.

Upon our first meeting it felt so right,
And we knew that our love was reborn that night.

Those first days were filled with laughter and love,

As I gathered strength from Heaven above.

We both shed tears once again,
But we survived, in the end.

The years had seen us together, I know,

But now we’ve changed, and can finally grow.

Ever keen in our minds and especially our heart,

We know we can’t live forever apart.

Weeks, nay months, have come to pass,

And we no longer feel that we won’t last.

The change is there, within your eyes,

Thy words, thy touch, help me survive.

We are no longer the same, you and I,

At last we know, it will not die.

Is it like it was before that dreadful day?

Nay, its better, in every way.

For now our vision sees only one road,

And that we travel together, whatever the load.

When we speak of our future it’s always clear,

That we meet it together, year after year.

I looked for a sign, from you, my love,

And it came to me, as a warbling dove.

It told me that now was the time so right,

To rescue us from our sorry plight.

But more than that, it’s a life that awaits…

Both of us to complete our fates.

Commitment, fulfillment, are but the tools…

To bring about this love that rules.

The love that shall rule our very lives,

Giving strength and purpose for us to survive.

The trials of life we shall conquer with ease,

And the trials of love are easy to please.

Our promise to each other has tipped the scales,

And removed from our limbs those bondage nails.

“Now”! We cried, with conviction so strong,

Is the time to claim the place we belong.

And so on the beach that Autumn night,

I present the diamond, so sparkling bright.

It reflects your eyes with perfection true ,

Perfect in every way, just like you.

With a lump in my throat, and hopes held high,

I asked for your hand, and stifled a cry.

“It would be an honor”, you said with solemn voice,

And in that instant, you made your choice.

Scarcely believing what I did hear,

I pulled you close to my heart, my dear.

My heart soared with boundless love,

I thanked not just you, but God above.

To the Celestial Concourse I prayed my relief,

That you said “yes”, and ended my grief.

This talisman, this token, this beautiful ring,

Is but a symbol of the happiness it will bring.

A new life, a new world, there for the taking,

We now stand at the threshold, no longer quaking.

Our dream’s fulfillment is now at hand,

In love with each other, we’ll walk the land.

It matters not what remains our fate,

A whole new life is ours to create.

A life given by God, His blessings bestowed,

We’ll cross that threshold, and travel that road.

What we have is both beautiful and divine,

And will last beyond all time,

Do not be afraid, my darling life,

As you become my precious wife.

Let the diamond’s sparkle call you now,

That talisman’s truth will show you how.

Now that we know that we are real,

Let our heart, and souls, really feel.

The love, the life, yearned for so long,

We immerse ourselves in a love so strong.

For we have dreams to last a lifetime, my sweet,

And love enough for eternity, where we shall ever meet.

And we shall never lose this precious gift,

    It will always be that way…

For we have found our piece of mind

    Forever…and a day.

Before God we stand, His presence almost seen,
