If the American family is strong to this day, and if the economy is improving, where is it to be found in this picture? What happens while America continues to ignore its weakest links?

Another interesting thought: Cain replied to God in ancient days, "Am I my brother's keeper?" So dare we wask Washington D.C., "are you following Cain?"

Poem Artwork

Look there, my brothah

tell me now do you c-him

walking with a limp

swingin’ his brown bag

soak’d with last night’s chicken grease

that clogg’d up his veins

so bad that ER

turn’d him down for a sequel

last episode past

observe, my sistah

tell me now do you c-him

eating cigarettes

lickin’ greasy sacks

breathin’ soot from smoked pipe stacks

paying for a song

in his off-key life

auditioning one more time

for Dignity’s part

can you C-HIM

distant arrogant nation

for s/he is Creator

pure and Holy Infinite

flesh-wrapp’d Majesty

Cynth'ya~

Powerfully stark and disturbing write; why isn't anything being done to help the poor and downtrodden in our society?? It doesn't make any sense AT all! I wish those in Washington could live in this person's shoes; then they'd do something quick!! It's worth a shot!!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >tears <

I think Washington (a/k/a Dubya) picks out the parts of the Bible that suit him and his purposes during a news conference. There is nothing healthy about the economy...at least the part that affects we the little people who are paying just under $2.50 for a gallon of gas and/or being thrown out of work. He and his Texas cronies are probably doing great in light of our suffering, which is likely the reason for his optimism. Anyone with eyes can see it's all B.S. This is a gut wrenching write Cynth'ya. That photo is powerful stuff. Keep em' coming! Blessings, Michelle

cynth'ya,

HELL YEAH, i c-him and it pisses me off--what in hell is wrong with our Nation, supposedly the richest in the world, throws its lowest class citizens out like garbage???? Girl, you've hit a sore, sore spot--I've been there. Not all homeless are there by choice. It's a hell I wouldn't wish on anyone. It's only by hard work and God's good grace that I have managed to (BARELY) eak out a living--you've spit the truth here and got my blood boiling mad--thank you for this important clarion call to action!!!!!!!! BRAVA--STANDING O!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

thought provoking read .... all these governmental fat cats get fatter and the poor in this country can just fend for themselves. folks out of work 1 -2--3--4--5 years.... jobs being sent out of country, folks would work if there were jobs. something is wrong.

You know how we c-him, Cynth'ya, by quoting scriptures about how the sin of laziness has brought him his fate and how if a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat while ignoring scriptures about the shame of neglecting the poor and not seeking justice for the oppressed and by glossing over the sin of not sharing with our brothers. We wink at the ungodliness of lacking compassion and Jesus' words that how we mete it out to others so shall it be meted out to us. Then we turn to genetics and try to prove others are inferior to us and so deserve their wretched lots in life and we deserve to soar. We see him, turn away, drink our bourbons and stick in our earplugs so we won't register his wails, do whatever we must to let us sleep cushy at night; thus, we justify never having to C-him.

Fantastic soldier poem, sis. ~~Nordette

Cynth'ya, very strong poem and picture image. Powerful. Heartfelt reminder that we need to talk, as a people, about what we are and what we do with what we have. At present the family in the picture is not present at the table. Henry
