Poem Artwork

                  I

Seems the simple life's road

is more than hard enough,

religious zealots just make it more rough,

we say  "live and let live"

they say "kill and let die"

in the name of false gods

they call on the "Father"

that their logic denies

For the ones who control

all affairs of the soul

tend to listen with ears

plugg'd with sylver and gold;

                II

Watch them stand, gloat and boast,

raise gold goblets to toast

their success on behalf

of the blue collar ghosts. . .

still the rich can't deny

in the sweet by and by

that equality lies

in the grave

side by side

               III

death reveals all they hide

under prejudice, pride,

it is time to decide:

why do we pay to walk?

why don't they pay to ride?

Excellent write and so true, Cynth'ya "... death reveals all they hide under prejudice, pride, it is time to decide: why do we pay to walk? why don't they pay to ride?" Its not for us to judge.

God bless,

Sandie.

Yes, someone was telling me about this. When will it stop? I wonder if they also don't sell condoms to men? Do they check the connections of their banks to see if they're invested in companies that that adhere to practices with which they disagree?

Many of these outward shows of godliness are nothing but messianic-complex masturbation by ego-tripping self-righteous exhibitionists. Why don't they truly relieve themselves of hard decisions, stop selling pharmaceuticals, and go teach children in inner city schools or the forgotten rural poor? Why don't they donate the profits from their drug stores thus far to the local homeless shelter, be done with it all, and work to better the foster care system since they're concerned about babies? Hmmmm. Oh, noooo. Give up the money! Nooooo. It says right there on the dollar in God they trust and so they keep him in their pockets and their banks and waste our time with birth control pill distribution squabbles while people are dying in the streets. We all know that God is far more concerned about babies who have not been conceived and embryos than the ones we can already see with the eyes in our head. Or to paraphrase and borrow the logic of I John 4:20, how can anyone claim concern for unborn humans they cannot see when they care so little for the ones already born that they can see?

Why do we continue to think that God needs our help to stone people? I could've sworn Jesus cleared this up when the men gathered to stone one woman and he stopped them? And the decision to sin or not sin again was left with her. Not the men. Great poem, Cyth'ya!

Cynth'ya, you have exposed a truth not often faced by many....

>>still the rich can't deny

Since we are all equal, and you can't take it with you, why not share! Thanks.

Peace.
