Word will always be the champ, the poet might take a close second stamp...

Poem Artwork

Word has the upperhand,
the poet has to meet the demand.
Word has dictionary strong,
poet might have to fight being wrong.
Word is already jelled,
poet has to verse rightly spelled.

Word has proper grammar,
dot every eye slammer,
or poet gets the hammer.
Word was born before,
the poet ever hit the door.
Word is unforgiving,
but the poet has to go on living.

Poet is somewhat lacking,
word has longevity backing.
Poet might have to study hard,
or word will deal a joker card.
Yet poet and word are one,
and versing sure is fun.

Your poem is fun too. It can be read and appreciated by every reader, including children, because it sounds like a game and the poet, so small compared to the world of words, somehow takes hold of a word and transforms it. Isn't it magic?

OH, I love this! But, poet has this up her sleeve,
a web of death she spins and weaves,
when Word dressed in lace is by Word that is drab,
then Word trapped in Poem suffers death by back-stab...
