No bones about it !

Poem Artwork

The best policy is
to stay out of the den,
then the stone throwers
won't rock you for sin.
I'm not staying out,
I'll fight first about.
People are highly
judgemental,
poets are people
grudgemental,
and this isn't
incidental,
some are even mental.
I'm in the mental category,
because I believe in
writing my story,
serving my curse,
poeming my verse.

Don't verse romance,
you'll be accused of
being in love,
Don't remind the bigots
of their racism and stupidity,
you'll be accused of
spreading hate.
And you better not
verse on life,
you'll be attacked from
all angles.

I'm very confident,
I find these taboos
to be most evident.
The only problem
with me is that I don't
practice voodoo
or fear any other
hoochikoo,
but I do attack
everything taboo.

I've learned to ignore ignorant people who have nothing better to do than criticize people and things that they don't understand. I have been misunderstood because I choose to spend my lunch time alone in my classroom instead of gossip central "the teacher's lounge" but I find peace, solitude, and a little me time in my room alone. I also use this time to unwind, check in at the den, check email, make phone calls...the things that I can't do while I'm teaching. I like to find quiet time and write...finally those that thought that I was anti social figured out that I was just writing, reading, and enjoying peace have backed off and the comments are no longer...hang in there my friend and keep writing from the heart as you do, I love your unique style!

Just ignore the fools, Gem! But I do enjoy this poem of yours...it does create a good laugh on those 'critters' lurking :o) Stay strong and keep writing!!
