                        The Simple Life I'm Missing

Words and Music-Joel B. Kirkpatrick, III
Copyright 1986

I WAS RAISED ON GOSPEL MUSIC… BACK IN THE HILLS YOU SEE…
CORNBREAD BISCUITS… GRITS AND GRAVY… LOTS OF COLD ICE TEA…
CHURCH ON SUNDAY… WORK ON MONDAY… ONLY LIFE WE KNEW…
COUNTRY LIVIN’…  COUNTRY LOVIN'… I SURE DO MISS YOU…

     IN THE CITY LIGHTS ARE PRETTY
     LOTS OF THINGS… TO DO…
     BUT THE SIMPLE LIFE I'M MISSING
     I SURE DO MISS YOU…

{Instrumental break}

I LEFT HOME WENT TO THE CITY… MADE ME A BRAND NEW START…
MET A GIRL AND WE GOT MARRIED… THEN SHE BROKE MY HEART…
WHY'D I LEAVE MY COUNTRY LIVIN'… WHY'D I HAVE TO ROAM…
NOW I'M STUCK HERE IN THIS CITY… WISHIN' I COULD GO BACK HOME

     IN THE CITY LIGHTS ARE PRETTY
     LOTS OF THINGS… TO DO…
     BUT THE SIMPLE LIFE I'M MISSING
     I SURE DO MISS YOU…

{Instrumental break}
