A SILVER LINING
They say every cloud
has a silver lining.
If this was really true then
her clouds needed re-defining.
Some time ago, it seemed,
her clouds had all turned black.
Aimlessly wandering now,
she needed to get back on track.
He'd been gone for over a year.
It was time for her to move on.
She needed a better plan
to accompany each new dawn.
The hurt was still there
but more manageable now.
She wanted to smile again,
but didn't quite know how.
She sought not a replacement,
just a reason to live again.
She wanted to see the world.
She wanted a reason to grin.
She decided to try the internet.
The site promised a match.
It's scary out there with strangers
and the various schemes they hatch.
She'd chat with them online.
Some, she'd agree to meet.
Likely just for coffee,
or maybe a quick bite to eat.
One man seemed quite pleasant,
his manners very nice,
but she ran the other way,
when he confessed to wanting a wife.
She met several intriguing prospects.
None seemed exactly right.
Somehow she still found herself
at home all alone each night.
Just when she was ready
to give up and call it quits,
a new possibility presented itself
and he seemed a natural fit.
She sent him a friendly wink.
His response came right away.
Beginning with that moment,
they've been chatting every day.
Nearly a month passed by
before they met face to face.
He was what she'd been seeking
and her heart began to race.
They just seemed to match
in every significant way.
Each seemed always to know
what the other was about to say.
The days began to brighten,
and there were clouds no more.
He brought happiness with him
each time he graced her door.
She had found her silver lining,
amongst the loneliness and pain.
He brought to her new love
and taught her to live again.
