THERE TO GIVE ME STRENGTH

I've ideas that I hold dear to me
And have come to believe
That they were planted in my soul
Before I learned to breathe

For tho my outer casing's changed
My heart beats much the same
Yet some may find me awkard
With thoughts serene or lame

For I've no lust for battle
Nor status do I seek
For me a day of silence
Is sweeter  than complete

And often judged as lacking
For all I do not say
Within my soul I cherish all
That came.....to always.....stay

The outside cannot change me
My years have shown this true
Such outcome of this life of mine
Will show all that is due

And if what I've held dear to me
Remains throughout my length
The ideas planted long ago
Where there........to give........me strength

It is my belief in the goodness of cookies, that has lead me thru these times of anguish and tribulations, and deep in my heart, I know Ogre Ed, realizes the error of his gluttonous appetites, and some day, will listen to his inner voice.......gain strength........and let the cookies live! No one is beyond redemtion....Cookieville is the land of second chances, the land of freedom for all, where Cookies and Human can live in equality and harmony............It's the sweetest receipe for all ingrediants involved.......Ogre Ed.......we believe in YOU

LET FREEDOM RING

So true! All the things I loved as a little girl still nurture my soul. This beauty is so peaceful, Anita and shows your quiet strength. I find your overtures for peace commendable. Alas, the Ogre seems unable to give up his addiction. Maybe we need an expert on conflict resolution to find the middle ground. What say fruitcake, lol?

I have the distinct feeling that Ogre Ed will repsond favorably to your overtures for a Cookie Truce...I can see where you are coming from...LOLS

All that work slaving over a hot stove every day, would drive anyone to distraction..:)

Your poetry like your admirable baking, is most edifying and food for the soul...

This is a beautiful, serene poem, Anita. I love to kick back in the quiet also. I rarely turn on the radio or television...well I turn on the television so that I will fall asleep, but that is about it. When I moved to New Mexico it was with the intent that I would spend time with myself and remove myself from the rat-race. I have done a pretty good job of doing it too. Alone is never the same thing as lonely and my alone time is my most precious time. I wonder if Ogre Ed could get used to eating just the dead, burned cookies. If he could, perhaps a compromise can be made. If he isn't killing the cookie souls of the living cookies, we could sort of refer to Ed as the Mean-Ogre Recycling Machine. Ashes to ashes and all. Happy 4th of July.
Take care,
Sherry

Our current President once proclaimed that he thought 'Fish and Mankind could peacefully co-exist.' And I guess a cookie ogre and an evil queen could peacefully co-exist, if you allow me to continue eating my cookies - if not, Let the War Rage ON!!!!

PS I was peacefully relaxing, enjoying my Independence Day, devouring dozens of cookies, when one of my hellish hounds alerted me to your comments. Back to the cookies - Dunk, Chomp, Slurp, and BUUUUURP...
