When you stop to remember me
Weep not for all eternity,
My time has come; I am at rest
I gave the job, my very best.

As firemen, we know that the threat
Is something we cannot forget,
And I, too, realized only fate
Beheld my final judgment date.

I am beside you on each call
Down every dark, deserted hall,
As you continue my crusade
To save the lives who need our aid.

I am quite calm; my heart is well
I served until my final bell,
I have no doubts and no regrets
My life was as good as it gets.

The Home from where I now reply
Is filled with Brothers, flying high,
Each one of them, a hero.... true
Who gave his all and paid his due.

Remember, Brother, in your sorrow
Our mission shall linger tomorrow,
When new blazes, erupt and rage
Despite the battle that I waged.

Weep not for me; I am at peace
My burdens and trials have ceased,
Dear Brother, please be strong and brave
For those whose lives you’ll need to save.

I will be here, helmet in tow
As you gallantly fight, below,
My Brother, ‘til we meet again
Be bold, be safe, good night, Amen.
