More valued than a sheet of paper
With words written by hand
Whose legacy will fade and taper
Like a single grain of sand
This Valentine that I send forward
Comes directly from my heart
And shall be a lasting reward
On the days we are apart.
In your smile, I see the beauty
Of a thousand bubbling streams
In your heart, I see the duty
To pursue one’s hopes and dreams
In your eyes, I see the candor
Of someone who is quite sure
That despite how life meanders
One shall find strength to endure.
In your presence, I find respect
For the things that matter most
And the firmness to dissect
Life’s pleasures from the morose
I am honored; I am gracious
And I feel quite privileged, too
That within a world so spacious
I have such a friend as you!
