If you find your heart is weary
From the battles that have wrought
And the outlook appears dreary
Leaving you to feel distraught
Rest your head upon the shoulder
Of a cherished friend who knows
How to lift the heavy boulder
That your life seems trapped below.

With some simple reassurance
In the form of loving care
You can find restored endurance
All because your friend is there
To bring forth a sense of reason
And shine light upon your path -
True friendship knows not one season
When faced with a burden’s wrath.

If you find your soul is tired
From the hassles of today
And you need to be inspired
In the wake of life’s dismay
Rest your head upon the shoulder
Of the friend who all along
Held the weight when burdens smoldered
So that you could remain strong.
