You’ve Touched My Heart

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A friendship poem to honor those who have touched my life in more ways than could ever be expressed.

If I were asked to count the ways
In which you’ve touched my heart
I know I would be here for days
Uncertain where to start
Should I begin with every note
That quickly made me smile
Or every funny antidote
That eased my mind awhile.

I could start with the confidence
The wisdom and the light
You’ve given through your eloquence
And through your sheer delight
Yet, would that be more notable
Than all the ways you've cared
When I wrote something quotable
Which you felt should be shared.

If I were asked to count the ways
In which my life has grown
I know I would be here for days
Noting the joy you’ve shown
And yet, no rhyming words of prose
Could properly impart
The beauty that forever flows
From where you’ve touched my heart.

Dear Jill,

You have touched so many hearts that it's no wonder that others have touched you. Beauty is the precision with which you write.
