You were once a precious infant
With a soft, innocent face
Safely resting in your cradle
Dressed for warmth and wrapped in lace
You did not know we were present
When we gazed into your room
Yet, those days were just as pleasant
As the sweet scent of perfume.
In no time, you were a student
With lacy ribbons in your hair
Always cautious; always prudent
Sitting in your assigned chair
You embraced the path not taken
And through each challenge, you plowed
Though, you were sometimes mistaken
You have always made us proud.
You were once a precious infant
Now, you are a blushing bride
Looking toward a bright tomorrow
With your soul mate by your side
Our memories will last forever
Some things time cannot erase
Yet, I’m sure no one could ever
Look more beautiful in lace.
