Teacher’s Prayer

A teacher's prayer for the upcoming school year.

Poem Artwork

As the children head back to school
I pray their hearts will come in peace
Each young mind is a sacred tool
Whose knowledgebase should never cease
Lord, bless each child within these walls
From August through the end of May
So, when they walk beyond the halls
Your light will guide them on their way.

Lord, take my hand at the first bell
Then, help me show them right from wrong
My class must learn to read and spell
And I will not have very long
Allow me to be calm and clear
Please help me to be strong and wise
So, every day of this school year
Will be a gift, before my eyes.

Soon, Lord, my students will return
With refreshed hopes and reborn dreams
I pray, each hour, their hearts will yearn
To be part of a winning team
Lord, grant me strength as we begin
So, I may teach them what they need –
Stay by my side, for only then
I’ll be assured they will succeed.

What an incredible prayer.
This school year is the first for my niece [as a teacher]. I am forwarding your poem to her. I know that God will be at her side each and every step of the school year.

God bless you for such an inspiring poem

Truly a worthy prayer, Jill. I do wish all who are going back to school (in Canada, most go back tomorrow) the very best of the new session. Coincidentally, I also posted a "back to school" poem here on Friday. Thank you for sharing this timely offering, Jill. Love and blessings to you,

Regis

The honesty of children is a treasure we need to boost a little more. Education is becoming secinf row priority if not third. I quit my career because, I , like amny teachers, thought I could martyr myself and then found out that my superiors didn;t care about what my kids needed. They were too conscious of the numbers and how much they could get fron government grants to be bothered with student needs. It doesn't work that way. It doesn't work their way!

Love,
Susan
