Pain of Letting Go

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about how the pain of having to let go of a relationship or a situation can be difficult, but brighter days and faith can offer much willpower to face the road ahead.

Poem Artwork

The pain from having to let go
Is hurt beyond compare
When the heart breaks, sadness will grow
Often too much to bear
Each day seems longer than the night
Which was already long
It’s hard to see a sun so bright
When everything is wrong.

The pain that forms inside the soul
Once one must walk away
Consumes the heart, no longer whole
Allowing woe to stay
The doubts build deep inside the mind
Forming castles of stone
When someone mourns, ‘tis hard to find
The path ahead, alone.

The pain that grows after goodbye
Buries the soul in grief
The teardrops fall and seldom dry
Because time is a thief
Stealing the power the heart once knew
Strength needed to endure
But, soon the sadness will be through
As God grants you the cure.

The path of letting go is indeed long and painful; yet you have found the "bottom line" of life and of this dilemma. God is not "there" He is HERE FOR YOU--for all who truly seek Him.
"Call to Me, and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things, which you do not know."
God bless you, Jill, as He continues to help you through this experience.

Love, Connie

Indeed a loss does steal a part of us away but God gives us His comfort to see this through and heal our sadness.
