Destiny knocked upon my door
Two years ago in May
At the time, I was less than sure
About my path that day
The rain fell softly from the sky
The ground was slick and wet
My trip had seemed to go awry
Before you and I met.
I was not in the greatest mood
This, I remember well
My heart was set on Arby’s food
Not the clear way I fell
The very moment you appeared
A good ten minutes late
I’ve no doubt that the angels cheered
For they knew our true fate.
I did not know it on that day
But you have come to be
The one who stole my heart away
You are the world to me
The future may hold some unknowns
Upon our golden shore
But, to the marrow of my bones
I could not love you more.
The rain fell quietly that morn
The air was crisp and clean
The angels sighed as love was born
Grateful for what they’d seen
We came together in a place
Neither wanted to be
And found a gift, blessed by God’s grace
Our love was destiny.
