The still mind is like a double-sided mirror
Reflecting simultaneously Heaven above
And Earth beneath -- a round glass of things.
To him who does not dwell in his ego
Things show themselves as they really are.
At that, his movement starts to be
Like that of a vigorous stream; his stillness
Is like that of a mountain peak; his response
Is like that of a secondary echo. His tenuity
Makes him seem to be vanishing altogether.
The still mind is like a clear pool -- the cup
Of endless application; harmonious
In his association with everything around
He counts gain as loss, and does not
Take precedence of others, but follows them
To settle then things as he sees fit.
