Each distortion tends to rectification so far;
If a man inherently is good by his nature,
How can he be unfortunate in his capacity?
Due to the self-cultivation, his whole life
Is turned to ethical norms and regulations.
The Path (also named the Dao) is smooth
And straight whereas the roundabout roads
Are bumpy and crooked to use them at times.
It is very sad to see how men's vehicles
Ditch onto the bumpy bypath of deviation
From the route of improvement. Why not to hit
The highway without any swerving from it?!
If I were suddenly to attain my full realization
About the way to arrange my life according to
The ultimate simplicity of the Great Path,
My only fear should be to swerve from its plan.
The Great Path is very smooth and straight
And yet, men prefer the following detours,
Courting danger and timeless end of their course.
