Poem Artwork

A male and a female are the greatest
Of all things that have senses;
The Yin and Yang are the greatest
Of all the elemental essences.

But the Tao, which is also known
As the Path and which is running
Between the starting and final ends,
Is what is common to all of them.

Due to its greatness, the Path,
Under this conditional name,
Is termed 'great' to be imaginary
In the endless cycle of Eternity.

But what comparison can be drawn
Between it and all the tiniest things?
Where does the limiting boundary
Between the great and small stuff run?

The whole world is in the mustard seed...

Whether we look outward or inward, we seem to be always facing eternity. Even the mustard seed shrinks in contemplation. This is a very thoughtful poem.

When sense meets essence, then unity is achieved; otherwise you have yin and yang on its own.

I don't know. I find that physics is wonderful stuff telling me about thee universe in quite clear and understandable terms and don't need oriental mysticism to guide my life. In the last five years, thanks to the Hubble telescope and other scientific instruments, we have learned more about the universe and our origin than all the years before.

That's amazing to me. Facts and knowledge. Not riddles and questions?
