For a long time it is noticed that
Simple numbers are not so simple
As they can be associated with
The elements of different origins.

The numbers one and six, for instance,
Correspond to Water, north, and winter
When all things are stopped in tracks
For saving their vital energy at rest.

The numbers two and seven associate
With Fire, south, and the fullest growth
In the height of the summer; what else
Could be added to these hottest codes?

The numbers three and eight correlate
With Wood, east, and springtime when
All insects get out of the winter sleep --
They are the lush blooming of trees.

The numbers four and nine correlate
With Metal, west, and harvesting
To be associated with accomplishing
Of all things in the mid of ripe autumn.

The number five or correlative ten
Associates with Earth, Centre, Matrix,
Texture -- crossing of weft and warp,
And all seasons put in one yearly bouquet.

When time has come for Heaven's will
To be expressed, but all strengths are still
On Earth's arrangement, there's nothing else
But booze and food of the lavish festivals.

As it runs, 'It is time to sowing and time
To harvesting.' There is one who imitates
The sowing, and one who imitates reaping;
And we correlate this to ten, or repeated five.

The number ten symbolizes Centre,
The full embodiment of Lord on High
In His honourable place on top
Of the mundane and the other world.
