There is a certain arch air to this poem that suits the theme particularly well. Don't we all trasure those chance meetings that immediately felt heavy with romantic promise, you have captured the mood well.
Of course, romance in "Casablanca",
one of the greatest films, comes to mind.
So....."Play it, Sam. Play "As time goes by"...

I remember once many years ago "her" place was among the shrubbery down by the mighty Mississippi in Memphis, Tennessee. She was going to Mississippi on the Greyhound dawg and I, I was in between this and that . . . Never saw her again.
