It began in the summer of '72,
A warm July evening when I first met you.
One look in your eyes my heart it did melt.
Unable was I to say what I felt.
A young teenage boy not quite yet a man,
With barely the courage to reach out my hand.
Watching the moon shining over the sea,
You timidly spoke and you said this to me.
"Ricky", you said, "I think I love You,"
My heart about stopped, I had all I could do.
Riding Bermuda bound seas of green - blue,
I managed the courage to say this to you.
"Denise", I did say, "I too love you so,
I always will love you, wherever you go."
I knew from that moment so deep in my heart,
This was the night when our true love did start.
Timid we were, young lovers of first,
Our hearts bound together for better or worse.
My soulmate, my true love and my new best friend,
These things you were, that never will end.
Months of love letters and telephone calls,
Love with such strength had me climbing the walls.
A visit weeks later, a train ride back home,
I never imagined I'd end up alone.
For thirty years after, I just never knew,
If fate held in store for me to see you.
What caused us to part, I simply knew never,
Wanting you in my life back then and forever.
Twenty years married and all through my life,
I hoped and I wished that you'd been my wife.
Thirty years later to my great surprise,
Your one line of email in front of my eyes.
One line so simple, oh how could it be?
That short little message would mean much to me?
One line did the trick I simply must say,
From then I would think of you every day.
Where our love will take us is God's mighty plan,
Until I shall know it I'll do what I can.
I look forward and wait with anticipation,
To hold you again in Grand Central Station.
Each day that goes by I feel more of your love,
As if you were sent here from heaven above.
The touch of your hand, the warmth of your heart,
I feel from this moment that we'll never part.
Each special day with you is a treasure,
A love that no other person can measure.
Just one little thing has completed my life,
Today we got married, and you are my wife.
