Power outages cause the eye to "see things".........

Some storm last night
Thunder a fright
A light'ning show
With hail you know

Power went out
Stumbled about
Across the street
Figure discreet

Flashlights now found
We heard a sound
It shook the wall
During rainfall

We hid our heads
Beneath our beds
Til mornings light
Some storm last night

I'M GLAD FOR MY EXPERIENCE IN THE SOUTH AS A CHILD. I'VE MENTIONED IT BEFORE...WE COVERED ALL THE MIRRORS, SAT ON THE BACK PORCH AND LISTENED AND WATCHED AS GOD...TALKED. I HAVE NO FRIGHT OF STORMS, JUST WON'T NOT TAKE COVER UNDER A TREE, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER THINGS THAT DO FRIGHTEN ME...AND I WON'T EVEN GO THERE. THANKS FOR SHARING. We have not had a storm here in a long time. There were three earthquakes yesterday of a 6.something magnitude but they were far out to see and caused no tsunami nor any other damage. Thank God! Well done on the write, Jane. Love and best wishes,

Ha ha ha,Jane, do I know this feeling!
Living in Oklahoma you might as well not come out of the covers but hibernate all year long.

Our weatherman show up each day and play the weather of fortune wheel and we play right along.

Oh well, wearing a swimsuit under a coat, with the rain coat on top, with furr lined flip flops will make anyones day scarry and want to hide...
ha ha ha..

I had one of those. I hid with my dog in the bed under mounds of covers surrounded by pumpkin candles. I boiled pots of water for heat until our ceiling paint curdled. Good times.

I read your poem with great delight, particularly because we also had a thunderstorm here in the desert yesterday and going into the night, a one-in-a-year experience that had us all running for cover. There is nothing like a storm, particularly when you live in the desert.
