For some reason I'm not getting alerts for those I'm following, so dug in and found your posting. Gotta get that corrected. Any way, I like your metaphoric use here of an often taken for granted phenomena, the rainbow. I've cancelled and re-marked "for following". Hopefully that's all it took.
TO ME THE COLORS OF 'PRIDE' REPRESENTS 'THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE' AND THE LOVE OF GOD, INDEED, TRANSCENDS EVERYTHING! CAN'T HELP BUT THINK OF 'HIS' ULTIMATE GIFT OF 'LOVE' MADE FOR EACH OF US, GIVING ALL THE RIGHT TO 'CHOOSE' THE PATH THEY TAKE...IN THIS WORLD AND THE NEXT. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+ INSPIRATIONS
While I have my doubts whether some sexual practices are worthy of "pride," I do not judge people in other areas for their performance in the world at large. But I do feel that those who are born with both sexes genetically or variations of this, are the least understood and most abused. Except for the chance of birth, they have no say in it.
I am a little put off with all the flaunting in the name of Pride. I've always believed in live and let live and not let differences make any difference in how I deal with people. Those that do, are gradually being dragged into reality by statistics of individual contribution and by heartfelt poetry like yours. Not by wild parades or flaunting of behavior.
I just left a long comment and it is not visible. Let me try again. This is a loving and meaningful gift for your son. I taught high school for many years and I met many individuals with all kinds of differences. I accepted them all and still do. Much of the destructive forces in this world/life come from misguided beliefs in religion, choices, sexual identity, race etc. So wrong!!! And this has brought on the chaos that is rampant on this planet which we are destroying. I find it hard to be at peace these days considering all that is going on. I do wish you love, peace, and best wishes and to YOURS as well, Jane,
Some of our brothers, some of our friends are much like your son. They chose a different path than us, but when we are together we become united as one.
Peace and love be with you,

Mom, this is a lovely poem and good advice. Thank you for this wonderful gift! I love you!
During the 1960's a young soldier struggles with basic training, a bully sergeant and his own inner demons. A tale of struggle, redemption and survival.
Just a simple gathering of the Gay & Lesbian Activist Association of New Birch and Sipsboror (GLAABS) and we plunge down a hilarious ride to perdition.
