Shes Just Somebodies Mother

by Judy Joy Jones

Alone in her

rocking chair

her cat in her lap

she glances at

the picture

on the wall

her son in uniform

stands tall

tears fall from

her tired aging eyes

an gently

she dries them

an sighs

so long ago

her son died

defending his country

from harms way

all family now gone

she rocks

and gently pets

her cat

while watching

the sun

going down

shes just somebodies mother
