A KEY

by Judy Joy Jones

A Key
all that separates
them and we

The poorest of the poor
on concrete streets
their blood doth pour

A Key
all that separates
them and we

A Key
they do their "crazy"
on the streets
and we laugh and say
'thank god its them
and not me'

While we chosen ones
do our crazy
behind closed doors
because we have a key

When we die
and go home to god
will we be offered
the key
that knows no lock

Or will we be back
on earths shores
this time
with no door?

A Key
all that separates
them and we
a key

To fail the homeless is to fail the Savior. Beautiful and heart touching poem, Judy Joy.

Very compassionate write. We so often ignore that something is truly divine and I believe God is testing our hearts with many homeless..Many I believe are earth angels.. i myself was homeless a few times but God rescued me and i know the mercy, generosity and hope I feel towards them. Earth is but temporary and it is a true testing ground of the heart):

A stunning poem meant for those who look the other way and never do anything about something they can do something about. Shame on them.
