I wrote 'Ode to Mitch Snyder' for the Founder of the Community for Creative Nonviolence; Mitch Snyder, because he created a homeless shelter that provides refuge and meals for over two thousand people a night who otherwise would suffer on the cold streets of Washington, D.C. They have named a street near the shelter after Mitch Snyder.

Mitch was in prison for being in possession of stolen credit cards and it was there he learned about and chose the path of creative non-violence after reading about Mahatma Gandhi. Six months after I met and interviewed him, he died by hanging himself.
