"There but for good fortune go you or I." With your poetry you are the angel of the street people. While I know that psychologically, some of them want to be there, I'm sure that a good portion do not, but don't have any prospects for making enough money to live in even the most inexpensive of rental property.

I will not speculate on the world, but in the United States, there is enough wealth so that no one has to be on the streets. Capitalism, while restrained, is still making the rich richer and the poor and even the middle class poorer. This is caused by the wealthy getting tax breaks that literally are welfare for the rich who don't work. By simply adjusting the way that taxes flow, more people would move off the street, go from poverty to the middle class, and the upper-middle-class would be able to live like rich people. So the important thing is to vote for the candidates that will put tax reform on their platforms. Most economists agree.

I am for workfare. For example, paying poets, musicians and other authors a living wage as long as they produce, in reasonable quality, good work. Why should all the money go only to the stars? And students should be paid to learn, not the other way around. Each one working toward whatever talent they have. Every skill or talent has worth. Why should someone need a job to make money from a business owner that is primarily interested in profit rather than paying his/her employees a living wage?
