For thirty years
Mother Antonio
lived inside
the Tijuana Prison
helping those in need

When I met Mother
she asked me
to volunteer
teaching art
to the young
women prisoners

entering their
tiny crowded cells
the women tightly
held their babies
to their breasts

smiling they
offered me gratitude
for helping them
as tears filled my eyes

the experience
was so intense
it is etched
within my spirit soul
until i take
my last breath
